Professor Adrian Sheppard
Australian National University
Professor Adrian Sheppard is head of the Department of Applied Mathematics in the Research School of Physics at ANU. He completed his PhD in Physics at the Australian National University (ANU) in 1996 in the area of nonlinear optics and has held research positions at the Université Libre de Bruxelles, the University of New South Wales and the Australian National University. He is committed to applying his research and is the originator of the Mango software toolkit for scalable imaging processing and one of the founders of the ANU’s CTLab, seeding the successful spin-off company DigitalCore that’s now part of Thermo Fisher Scientific. His research interests include tomographic and computational imaging, parallel algorithms for image processing, understanding complex morphology, and fluid flow through porous bio- and geo-materials.
